Weather conditions: |
| In spring 2006, conditions for breeding were very good, with early arrival of spring across the Hudson Bay Lowlands, snowmelt appeared to be delayed at Cape Henrietta Maria as seen during a Canada goose survey in that area on 22 May (J. Hughes pers. comm.). Thus, timing of nesting in 2006 was probably close to average. Indeed, breeding productivity (0.91 goslings per adult) measured at banding 5 weeks post-hatch was near average compared to the previous 6 years (Hagey et al. 2006). At Akimiski Island, production was above average (1.16 goslings per adult, measured at 5 weeks post hatch) (Hagey et al. 2006).
